How do I know when to replace a product?

Replace when your skin has changed, when the season has changed, or when a product runs out — not because a routine feels stale.

Skin changes across the year, so a product that felt wrong in July can be right in January. Replacing on impulse resets the clock on judging results.

A product that is doing its job quietly is not a problem.

What may be happening

  • The season may have changed what skin needs
  • The product may still be right and the routine wrong
  • Boredom rather than performance may be driving the change

What people usually notice

  • A product feeling heavy only in summer
  • Skin comfortable but the routine feeling dull
  • Frequent restarting of the routine

Common routine mistakes

  • Replacing several products at once
  • Changing before the evaluation window has passed
  • Discarding a product that works

What to prioritize

  • Change one product at a time
  • Adjust texture by season before replacing
  • Give any change four weeks

Where this fits in a routine

  1. Cleanse

Removes the day without leaving skin feeling stripped.

  2. Protect

Daily sun protection in the morning.

Product characteristics that tend to fit

  • Seasonal moisturizer weights
  • A stable core routine

Next step

Keep a stable core and change only what the season asks for.
